Digital SLR Photography: Basic

This hands-on workshop is specifically designed to help enthusiastic photographers understand the basic technical aspects of photography so they can get the most from their digital SLR camera. Ideal for people who want to learn which settings to use in a wide range of situations. The session includes a mix of theory in the classroom and practical instruction touching on photo manipulation as well as capture. Participants will have the opportunity to shoot photographs, as well as review and discuss their images. Bring along your camera, instruction manual, USB cable and lunch.

Ideal for people who have taken a basic course in the past, or who have a firm understanding of the basic functions of their camera and want to take their skill to the next level. This hands-on class will include some discussion on theory with tips to maximise the results you get from optimising your camera’s settings, making it easier to take great shots. This class will also explore some image manipulation using programs such as Adobe Photoshop. Bring along your camera, instruction manual, USB cable, lots of images for discussion and feedback, and lunch.

Sustainable Journal Making

Learn how to make attractive blank journals using NO new materials. Techniques will be discussed that enable you to make covers, re-use paper and bind your own journals which make great everyday notebooks or distinctive gifts. This is a practical workshop where you will be making your own journal/s to take home with you. Please bring along a ruler and a sharp pencil. Jason Workman is a writer/artist who has been utilising reclaimed and found material in his work for the past 10 years. He has had journals & artist books exhibited in Orange Centre for Contemporary Art, California (2008) and Miami-Dade Public Library, Florida (2009).

Make the Best Espresso Coffee

Brush up on your Barista skills and learn how to make the best espresso coffee. Suitable for both café and home baristas. This workshop will cover all aspects of producing great espresso coffee, including using the grinder, extraction of the perfect espresso, milk texturing, basic latte art and cleaning.
