Researching Your Family History

Research world-wide records with guidance from ‘old hands' who know some of the tricks of the trade or research on your own if you prefer. Victorian records from 1836 onwards are available plus research materials, field trips and occasional speakers. To make the most of your research time, register your area of interest with the office before attending. Private research is undertaken on request. Come along for an hour or stay for the whole session.

Local Indigenous People and the Gold Rush

Award winning research by the University of Ballarat's Dr Fred Cahir has broken new ground on the nature of contact between Indigenous people and the gold rushes. His research exposes some of the myths and untold stories surrounding Indigenous and non-Indigenous relations during the 19th century. Fred's talk will focus on the Central Highlands region with a focus on the Creswick district.

Basic Puppy Training

You can teach your pup to sit, drop, walk without pulling, stop biting and more using modern friendly training methods. There is time for questions at the end of each class. Bring food treats and puppies favourite toys.

If you are interested in an absolute beginners French language class phone the Centre with your contact details and we can organise a class when we have enough student interest.

Beginners French 2

This course is primarily for people who have completed the Beginners French 1 class or already have a very basic knowledge of this beautiful language.

Persephone's Book Club

This friendly group reads and discusses 12 books per year. The group is currently full and the Centre is collecting expressions of interest to start a second separate group.

Community Singing Group

The Centre is collecting expressions of interest for an all ability mixed singing group. Sing your favourite songs and have some fun, no special ability is needed just a desire to sing.
